Privacy notice
CommonGround helps members of the Imperial MBA cohort find each other to collaborate. It is run by cohort members, not by Imperial College London.
What we store
- Your email address, used to sign you in and, when email delivery is configured, notify you about connection requests.
- The profile you write: name, programme, headline, ideas, background, interests, skills, manually entered work/education, LinkedIn and contact note.
- Ideas you post, connection requests you send or receive, and reports you make.
- Anonymous questionnaire drafts expire after one hour and are removed by scheduled housekeeping; signing in transfers your answers to your account.
- Your 15 questionnaire answers, your optional self-reported Myers-Briggs type, and your LinkedIn identity (name, email, identifier and photo URL when supplied), permission scope names and connection-test results.
- When you joined and last signed in. A session cookie keeps you signed in; there are no tracking or advertising cookies and no analytics.
Who can see it
- Signed-in members see your profile (except contact details) while it is visible.
- Your email, LinkedIn and contact note are shown only to people whose connection you have accepted, or who accepted yours.
- Moderators named by the organisers can see account lists and reports to keep the space safe.
- Raw questionnaire answers, your snapshot and Myers-Briggs type are private to you. Matches show an aggregate reason when preferences and values align.
- Matching runs on our own server. Your written profile and questionnaire are not sent to an AI service.
Service providers
WorkOS and LinkedIn handle LinkedIn sign-in and process the identity information needed for authentication. Standard LinkedIn sign-in provides basic identity details, not work history, skills or a public profile link. You enter professional details and your profile link yourself.
The app and database are hosted on Google Cloud in us-central1 (United States). WorkOS and LinkedIn may process identity data internationally. Your profile photo URL is stored privately; the app does not load external profile photos.
Signing out ends your CommonGround session. Deleting your account erases the app’s copy immediately; authentication records held by WorkOS or LinkedIn are subject to those providers’ retention policies. Contact the organiser if you need help with those records.
Your choices
- Hide your profile at any time from the “You” page.
- Download everything we hold about you as a file.
- Delete your account: your data is erased immediately and is gone from backups within 30 days.
- Accounts unused for 365 days are deleted automatically.
Lawful basis: your consent, given when you create a profile. You can withdraw it by deleting your account.
